History

Although other inventors researched light bulbs as far back as the early 1800s, it wasn’t until the late 1870s when Thomas Edison patented technology that has lead us to the modern commercial light bulb. In the 1880s Edison Electric Company began marketing a carbonized bamboo filament light bulb that could last over 1200 hours.
